LinkedIn Profiles: 5 new areas to consider
There has been a relativley low key launch – maybe appearance would be a better description rather than launch – of some additional sections which can be used on your LInkedIn profile. A pity as I think that they are ones that could most certainly be put to good use and, as with many of the other sections, offer another opportunity for people to display and push elements that are certainly worthy of promoting further.
This section is currently ‘hidden away’ in the “edit profile” section of the site which I guess is why so few people have as yet incorporated them into their profiles. The new section allows us to add one or all of a series of additional pieces of information covering (more…)

Keeping up with LinkedIn
Well, one of the benefits of providing courses and training in LinkedIn is that I have to make sure that I keep up to date with all of the changes that LinkedIn make to their site so that I can pass this information on to my clients and the attendees of the LinkedIn courses I run.
Currently, there are lots and lots of modifications happening to the LinkedIn site and so, as a way to help pass on details of the changes, I’ve set up a new category called LinkedIn site changes and will be attempting to pass on all of the changes I spot as I spot them or as they are announced.
I’m also looking at the option of running a monthly half hour webinar if there (more…)

LinkedIn in figures: Hubspot Infographic
I do like the recent trend towards creating Infographics which are hugely useful I find in getting your point across of a certain subject in a concise and very visual way. Sadly, I really don’t have the talent to do them justice so instead I wanted to share with you one created at the end of June 2010 by Hubspot.
Lots of interesting pointers in it and created soon after LinkedIn announced that they had passed the 70 million member mark – no mean feat, even given the current increasing focus on the whole area of Social Media and how it can work to increase customer interaction and business success on the back of that.
One key element in the report for me was that (more…)

LinkedIn hits 4m users in UK
While it’s true that Facebook and Twitter get a lot of press coverage, LinkedIn continues to quietly go about its business, developing a hugely interactive platform and in the process building up an impressive (and remarkably active) user base.
Earlier this month, it announced that it has now surpassed 70m users worldwide while, in the UK, the number of users has also exceeded 4m for the first time. This certainly means that it is not only a key business networking site but its rate of growth also seems to be increasing. Certainly, from my own point of view, during the monthly “Introduction to LinkedIn” session we do at (more…)

The changing face of LinkedIn
There has been great change at LinkedIn and I don’t just mean over the past few months although it’s true that there have also been numerous additions to the platform and its user base just recently as well.
For me, the difference between the LinkedIn that I first used some four years ago and the vibrant interactive place that I see today is like chalk and cheese. The development from online rolodex to interactive business social networking site has been a very positive (more…)
