5 Key engagement places on LinkedIn

Engagement is the lifeblood on LinkedIn and encouraging it is a priority from LinkedIn’s perspective but should also be from our own. The more time we spend engaging on their platform the happier LinkedIn is and equally the more we listen and talk to others here, the better our understanding of them and the deeper the potential relationship, wherever our focus lies.

When it comes to engagement, there are a number of places on LinkedIn that every salesperson should be visiting on a regular basis and ideally every day.

These are all potential sales triggers which, we respond appropriately, can prove highly valuable source potential contacts and of potential prospects.

1. Who’s Looked at Your Profile

The first key area which is often overlooked is who has looked at your profile page – if someone has looked at your profile page and your profile is written your target audience in mind, then one of the key reasons for this is that they will be interested in what you do or offer. (more…)

10 LinkedIn Tips and Advice revisited

Over the past few weeks, I have sent out a series of LinkedIn hints and tips in infographic form relating to elements on the site that I have been asked about, that I have seen have been causing issues or things that have changed and were worthy of a mention.

I have decided to bring those together in a single post to save you having to search them out on my LinkedIn feed in an effort to be extra helpful .. oh, and with an additional explanation below each one in case the image does tell you the whole story!

1. Don’t send your message before you want to

When you go to your Messenger system, there are occasions when, quite naturally, you might want to start a new paragraph and have hit the key to go to a new line in the message and yet found that the message instead has been sent. Annoying!

That is unfortunately the default format on LinkedIn. However, if you go to the Messanger area then just next to the “Send” button, you will see three dots which allows you to turn that off and allow you to format your message as you wish. (more…)

The Marmite nature of LinkedIn Notifications

Well, as the phrase goes, you either love them or hate them but one thing that you’ll find it difficult to do is simply miss notifications on LinkedIn … and that’s probably a good thing, given what they are trying to achieve. 🙂

As with so many things on LinkedIn, the issue arises because people want to use the site in different ways and so something which one person finds of value, another might consider to be a waste of time or better suited to a site like Facebook. And so it is with LinkedIn Notifications. So the challenge we face is how to get the best out of them and to avoid the annoyance that people feel that they are in some way irrelevant and intrusive.

Luckily, and again like so much on LinkedIn, you can customise this section allowing you to see the ones that you are interested in and hide those that for you are simply irrelevant noise.

So what are Notifications?

Notifications do very much what they say on the tin – they simply notify you when something which is deemed of interest or importance to you happens. You’ll find them in the main menu and they appear for a number of very different reasons.
